Charity Knitting 2010 – and so it begins

When Disney announced their 2010 promotion of Give a Day, Get a Disney Day, I knew I wanted to volunteer on some level, even if I only re-gifted the ticket to another charity. Luckily, there was an opportunity to knit something for my volunteering, so I signed up to make a Project Linus blanket. [...]

on the road… celebrating a centenarian & other new things

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of helping my Gran celebrate her 100th birthday.

It was a wonderful party, and I got to catch up with family I hadn’t seen in a while, which is always fun.
Gran lives in Guelph, Ontario, which is about 8-9 hours’ drive from here. I’ve never done so much driving [...]

it’s ironic

Working on a creative space has effectively been cutting off my creative time. The basement project is coming along, but it’s slow work, weekend by weekend, and it leaves me very little in the way of free time to create.
That said, I took a couple of weekends off to meet up with new & [...]

more mittnz – and goal reached

Last post, I said I wished I had 18 pair of mittens for the Cheyenne River Reservation, and this post, I’m happy to say that I met my goal.
Here are the latest additions to the mitten mountain:

And this is the final stack:

a mini-mountain of mittens

A good family friend passed away last month, and in her honor, I wanted to continue her tradition of charity knitting. I already have one scarf knit for the Red Scarf Project, but I knew there had to be more ways to share out there!
When I saw Ann at Sheep Shots’ challenge to the [...]

Free Chocolate

I have a feeling that just about everyone who reads this blog probably likes chocolate. And hey, free chocolate? What’s not to like?
M&M/Mars is running a promo on Fridays this summer. The first 250,000 people to register on their site will receive a coupon for a free candy bar. [...]

red beads and a gold star

When I originally got my copy of Carol Cypher’s book Mastering Beadwork, I was intrigued by the bead crochet rope project in the book that used a bead soup mix and a larger gauge thread/yarn as its base. I’ve done some beaded crochet in the past, but it had been a while.
So, before I [...]

now, I can share

A few weeks ago, I posted a teaser photo of some etched pieces I’d made, but couldn’t share the whole thing, because it was for a swap.
I think most of the 2009 Mask Swappers have gotten their packages by now, so I’m going ahead & posting the full images.
Here’s a Zentangle®*-inspired doodle I used to [...]

Happy Spring!

Sheesh – it’s been a month?
Not much going on ’round these parts, except a bit of knitting.
Inspired by Kay, I knit up a few new washcloths.

And then tried my hand at the Lizard Ridge pattern with the leftovers.

They’re happy spring colors, and it’s a happy spring day. Glad the weather forecast [...]

April Fools!

or not. =)
I can’t quite believe it’s been so long since I last posted. And I suppose the joke is really on me, but it’s been that kind of winter.
Anyhow, I finally sat down and tried using one of my own doodles as a transfer for tearaway etching. I think it worked [...]
